If you are wondering what is the difference between WIRED or WIRELESS CCTV. You have come to the right page.

So you’re deciding to install a CCTV at your premise but you can’t choose between wired or wireless cctv.

Now we will tell you the PROS and CONS between both.

Wireless CCTV

Pros:

Installation is very simple and convenient and it is plug and play with some configuration. Therefore, if you’re having second thoughts after you install at a certain location and position you can easily remove it from the location and change to another location without much work involved.

Another benefit of wireless would be two-way audio, you can hear audio transmitted from the CCTV and your phone itself. So if you wish to talk to someone at the other end, It is possible to do so. Another great benefit is you can PAN and TILT for wireless so there is more coverage.

Also,  if you would like to install it out of WiFi range, it is very easy to do so.  You would need to Install a WiFi repeater and it’s not a lot of work. Easier to do maintenance work.

Cons:

Quality may not be as good compared to wired, because the data is being transmitted through internet connection and WiFi connectivity issues may occur.

Distance between the router and CCTV are limited to approximately TEN-metres. If there are concrete walls between the two devices.

Connection would be affected and WiFi repeater would be needed to enhance the connection.

Storage would be a problem unless you connect it to an NVR for it to store your videos.

If you’re looking for basic uses for home surveillance, we recommend Vstarcam! Wireless, plug and play!

WIRED CCTV

Pros:

Quality is better since its direct data transmission through the cables and connection issues are likely not to occur. It is also safer because there is no wifi accessibility from third party who has ill-intent. Currently only wired can offer up to H.265+ codec and would cut down on storage uses.

It can run up to sixty-four CCTVs by using a NVR and able to record a lot more longer compared to wireless. It has weatherproof feature as well. So there is no need to be concern about your CCTV getting damage on unpleasant weather.

Cons:

Setting it up would be not as convenient as it would take quite some time to set up. Changing the location require you to remove your trunking and seal up the holes. Have to re-cable, re-trunk and drill new holes for the cable to run through.

There is no two-way audio in wired CCTVs and the angle for the CCTV are fixed. No pan and tilt feature. Maintenance work is harder and more troublesome .

For high quality and performance CCTVs, you may choose Hikvision or Dahua. Currently the NO.1 and NO.2 brand worldwide. You are ensured you will receive the quality you expect!
